Lights Beach

Lights Beach is several beaches in one destination

Welcome to Lights Beach, offering not just one, but three stunning beaches accessible from a single location. Each beach has its own unique charm, making it an ideal destination for all nature enthusiasts.

Lights Beach is truly a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Lights has a lot to offer, showcasing some incredible natural features.

From the staircase, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Wilson Head and the Denmark Community Windfarm turbines on the headland. Lights Beach Carpark offers direct access to the Lookout along a flat path approximately 10m long.

Discover a variety of activities at Lights Beach: sightseeing, bushwalking, surfing, and fishing. The eastern beach boasts a mesmerising ocean-waterfall, where waves crash into the Princess Pool, creating a captivating spectacle as they cascade down onto the sandy shore. It's the perfect spot for leisurely paddling and immersing yourself in the beauty of nature.

For those seeking an awe-inspiring view of William Bay and the Southern Ocean, the Central Beach is a must-visit. While the waves here are very powerful and not recommended for swimming, the views it offers are simply breathtaking, making it an excellent spot for capturing memorable photos.

The Western Beach promises an adventure. Connected to the renowned William Bay National Park, this beach features an offshore island, adding an element of intrigue to your beach exploration.

Walking and Biking Trails

Both the Bibbulmun Track and the Munda Biddi Trail cross Lights Beach and the Lights Beach Carpark. From the carpark, head east along the sealed path past sand dunes to the most popular beach, and continue along the coast to the Wind Farm on the WOW Wilderness Trail. The Eastern Beach leads down to Princess Pool, a delightful rock pool for swimming, and to the stunning bay. You can walk all the way around the headland. This is a dog friendly beach. The views from the headland down on to the beach are stunning and there is some grass and a park bench to be able to have a picnic lunch. Heading west towards William Bay National Park along another paved walkway along the ridge behind the beach. At the far end of the western path, a staircase will take you onto the sand and into William Bay National Park from the east. Both of these trails are part of the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail.

There is beach access from the car park, and via both pathways within a few hundred meters.

Lights Beach borders William Bay

William Bay National Park covers almost two thousand hectares and has some of the most spectacular coastline including Greens Pool, Elephant Rocks, Elephant Cove, Tower Hill. Taking the Bibbulmun Track from Lights Beach into William Bay is a popular starting point.

Taking the Bibbulmun Track from here leads past Waterfall Beach and Madfish Bay then across the hillsides to the Tower Hill station. From Tower Hill you get views of Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks below. Hiking gear required, this is a long-distance trail.

It is a rocky stretch of coastline showing clearly the power of the frequent large waves coming ashore. A restful and impressive place to meditate and satu attuned to nature. Always be careful when near the ocean and stay present to children. Children really do love this beach and all the different things you can do there! We enjoy visiting Lights beach. The car parking is sufficient, and the trails up and down the coast are pleasant.
